Facebook buys mobile ad firm

At the Inside Social Apps conference, Facebook CTO Bret Taylor said that moving forward, mobile will be the company’s “primary focus.” And apparently, it’s not just lip service.

Facebook confirmed recently that they purchased the mobile ad firm Rel8tion for its first mobile ad effort.

“Mobile is inherently social,” Taylor said, noting that phones in general lend themselves to Facebook because phones are communication-based by their very nature.

While we don’t know Facebook’s full intentions here, it was known that Rel8tion was working on an ad system that targets elements of social media networks. This would put Facebook in more direct competition with Google’s AdMob.
