Story about IE9 users being dumb not true

You may have heard that there is a study out from a company called AptiQuant that says that people who use Internet Explorer 9 tend to be kind of stupid. This company did an online IQ test and made a note of which browser the test taker was using.

“The study showed a substantial relationship between an individual’s cognitive ability and their choice of web browser. From the test results, it is a clear indication that individuals on the lower side of the IQ scale tend to resist a change/upgrade of their browsers,” explains AptiQuant.

While people use tend to use FireFox were quick to rejoice, the sad reality is, it’s not true.

The BBC did some more digging on the story and found a few problems. They found out that the AptiQuant’s website is only a month old and there are some issues with their employees page. The kind of issues where it’s not really them. They found that the pictures were from some French psychometric-testing company’s website, with the names changed.

So yeah, neither AptiQuant nor their report pass the sniff test. And while it was fun to believe for a couple hours, it’s just someone pulling some nonsense.
