We don’t like to use this blog to talk too much about our own internal Large Media goings-on, but we’re so excited about the recent developments that we just had to post.

You may have seen this press release hit the wire today on Tudor Games taking over Electric Football from Miggle Toys (who did a PHENOMENAL job with the brand for more than 20 years):

GAMING WORLD VIBRATES WITH NEWS OF ELECTRIC FOOTBALL™ ACQUISITION
Miggle Toys hands off Business Operations to Tudor Games

SEATTLE, WA, February 9, 2012—Tudor Games, a Seattle-based manufacturer of sports games and hobby products, announced today it is acquiring Miggle Toys, the long-time manufacturer and distributor of Electric Football and other sports-themed products. Tudor Games is the marriage of Miggle Toys and Ballpark Classics, maker of Major League Baseball-licensed tabletop baseball games.

“I have admired Electric Football and the community that drives it for many years,” said Doug Strohm, president of Ballpark Classics and now Tudor Games CEO. “We are excited to implement an aggressive plan for our classic brands, including re-acquiring licenses, expanding consumer retail access, and supporting the many Electric Football Leagues and enthusiasts that make our products great. We will also continue the tradition of our popular annual convention and incorporate new technologies to make our games better than ever.”

“This is obviously a very personal deal for us, as we’ve owned Electric Football for more than 20 years,” said Miggle Toys owner Michael Landsman. “We couldn’t be happier knowing that this brand, so important to us for so long, is in good hands with Doug and the Tudor Games team.” airheads scuba

Electric Football has evolved thanks to a worldwide community of Miniature Football coaches and enthusiasts working to improve the game. No longer do players spin aimlessly on the electric gridiron; interchangeable bases have directional dials and improved materials giving coaches the freedom to design intricate plays. Football player figures are detailed miniatures sporting hand-painted uniforms, further customized with realistic chinstraps and facemasks.

Tudor Games will be showcasing its new and expanded product lineup at New York City’s annual Toy Fair in booth #6368 at The Javits Center beginning Sunday, February 12. Tudor Games product lines include Electric Football, Electric International Soccer, Electric Baseball, Ballpark Classics’ Wild Pitch Baseball, and a family of popular battery-operated football and racing games for the tailgating market.

Now, Micah (me) had worked with Electric Football for several years back in the early 2000’s while working at another agency. I absolutely loved working on that account because it was just flat-out fun. I’m an NFL junkie and the Electric Football community is filled with awesome people who will bend over backwards to help the game and the brand.

So we are thrilled to announce that Large Media is now the agency of record for Tudor Games! We just got started and are swamped at the moment, but we’ll keep you posted with all the fun stuff moving forward. Toy Fair New York here we come!
